LAlarm Free Edition 1.2

LAlarm is laptop alarm software, which sounds an alarm when a laptop is in danger of being stolen or losing data. LAlarm helps protect laptop and data. It protects the laptop against theft. It prevents data loss associated with HDD (hard disk drive) errors or damages. It prevents a laptop failure due to a HDD problem. It also protects data and prevents the hardware damage associated with sudden power loss.
1) Protect laptop against theft. Laptop theft is common and a constant threat to laptop security. Laptop theft is one of the top three computer crimes along with virus and hacking. LAlarm emits a loud siren sound when a thief tries to steal a laptop. For example, removing the AC power cord from a locked laptop will trigger the alarm.
2) Prevent data loss. The HDD (hard disk drive) holds important data but is subject to frequent error and logical or physical damages due to various causes. If error or damage is detected in early stage, it could be repaired before becoming more serious problem and prevent serious data loss. LAlarm alerts the user of both physical and logical disk problems.
3) Prevent laptop failure. Hard disk drive problem is a common cause of laptop failure. But most users are not aware of such problems being developed and escalated until the HDD finally halts and the data becomes irrecoverable. LAlarm recommends a HDD replacement to the user when it detects signs of HDD deterioration.
4) Protect data and laptop. LAlarm alerts when a possible sudden power loss is imminent. The user will then be able to save the data and shutdown the computer properly and/or switch to the AC power. LAlarm does not only help protect data but also the hardware because a sudden power loss could damage the laptop hardware and corrupt data.
